About Lizzo
Lizzo’s career began when she was living in Minneapolis. Lizzo had been performing with groups including an electro soul-pop duo called Lizzo & the Larva Ink. During this time, she formed a three-piece all-female rap/R&B group; the Chalice in 2012 that released their first album, which was a local success.
Shortly after, Lizzo released her own debut album that was more hip-hop focused. Lizzobangers was released on October 15, 2013. The album received rave reviews with Killian Fox of The Guardian giving it 4 stars out of 5 saying that the album was “ “At times joyfully nonsensical, Lizzo’s stream-of-consciousness rhymes can also be lethally pointed.” This album helped place
Lizzo on the music scene map, which enabled her to join Har Mar Superstar on a US and UK fall tour that same year. She was even given the chance to sing with the band.
Lizzo was then discovered by many professional outlets leading to her being named one of 14 music artists to watch in 2014 by Time magazine.
But Lizzo’s true critical success came with the release of her third studio album, Cuz I Love You, in 2019. This album peaked at #4 on the US Billboard 200 and spawned the popular singles, “Juice” and “Tempo”.
